Calvey Named Trolley Museum Manager

The Lackawanna County Commissioners have named a passionate arts and culture advocate to lead the Electric City Trolley Museum. Chris Calvey, South Abington Twp., who has served as interim manager since the death of Manager Wayne Hiller in September, will assume the permanent role immediately at a salary of $56,375.

In addition to the interim management role at the museum, Calvey has been a program manager in the Lackawanna County Department of Arts and Culture since 2009, where he was accomplished at grant-writing and marketing – skills that are crucial in the museum management role.

Calvey also is president and funeral director for Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Clarks Summit.

“Since assuming the museum role under difficult circumstances last year, Chris has demonstrated a blend of competence and passion that’s fundamental to the task of making the museum an even better attraction and key piece of our thriving arts, history  and culture communities,” Commissioner Bill Gaughan said.

The museum, 300 Cliff St., Scranton, will observe its 25th anniversary this year.
