| This February, Agricultural and Horticultural professionals will have access to two short workshops, Core Pesticide Recertification Workshop I and II, at the Monroe County Cooperative Extension Office in Stroudsburg. Attendees will receive 2 core pesticide applicators recertification credits for each of the sessions, which are independent of each other. You can attend either or both of the workshops.
Workshop I, to be held Wednesday, February 15, is on Pesticide Labels and Labeling. It will utilize the “Pesticide Jeopardy” program and include a hands-on review of labels and the information contained on them. Other issues to be discussed are “ restricted use,” pesticide names (common, chemical, and brand) MSDS, Etc. Workshop II, held Wednesday, February 22, is on Personal Protective Equipment for Pesticide Use. It will review protective equipment including some hands-on equipment and materials to try on and see how these can offer appropriate chemical protections. Included in the discussion are chemically resistant fabrics, gloves, footwear, headgear, eyewear, respirators. Both programs are designed to benefit a wide range of pesticide applicators-Farmers, Fruit Growers, Foresters, Grounds Managers, Landscapers, Nurserymen, Garden Center Personnel, Exterminators, Researchers, Park/School Pest Control Personnel, Swimming Pool applicators, Landscapers, Grounds Managers, Nurserymen, Garden Center Personnel, Turfgrass Professionals.
Registration is limited to small class sizes, included light refreshments and materials, and is $10.00 for each workshop.
