 Scranton, PA-Christopher Ries, artist in residence at Schott Glass Technologies explains the intricate techniques he uses to create his artwork in glass to Lackawanna County Commissioner, Robert C. Cordaro and Regina Peters, Executive Director of the Office of Education and Culture. The exhibit “Capturing the Light: Masterworks of Contemporary Glass” exclusive to the Everhart Museum will run through June 25, 2006. Masterworks of Contemporary Glass provides the visitor with an insight into how artists manipulate the medium to a number of processes: heated, cooled, stretched, melted, carved, poured, tinted and sculpted. Capturing the light was developed in collaboration with Holsten Galleries of Stockridge, Massachusetts and participating artists include Sonja Blomdahl, Dorothy Hafner, Sidney Hutter, Kreg Kallenberger, Marvin Lipofsky, Dante Marioni, Charles Miner, Stephen Powell, Chris Ries, David Schwartz, Lisabeth Sterling and Steven Weinberg. | |
