Lackawanna County Commissioners A.J. Munchak and Robert C. Cordaro along with Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty recently hosted a press conference to announce that ESPN2's 'Friday Night Fights' will be broadcast live from Scranton on February 23rd. The event will take place at the Lackawanna College Recreation Center (formerly CYC). Lou Duva, of Duva Productions, and Northeast Boxing are promoting this night of boxing which will feature cruiserweights, Kelvin Davis (24-4-1, 17KOs) and Darnell Wilson (20-5-3, 17 KOs), in the 10 round main event. Three local fighters, Chris Mills, Marty Flynn Jr. and Anthony Cusumano, will also be on the card for this nationally televised event. CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE  At the press conference, Mr. Duva talked about the positive influence amateur boxing programs can have on a community, and said that he hopes to schedule many more events in Scranton in the future. Mr. Cordaro said that he sees this as a great opportunity to bring boxing back to Scranton and national attention to the area. Commissioners Cordaro and Munchak will personally be purchasing tickets to distribute to underprivileged youths.
