Third Annual Civil War Weekend Planned in Lackawanna County
 

The Lackawanna Historical Society and the Delaney Delacy Guard, Sons of Veterans Reserve proudly announce the 3rd Annual Grand Civil War Ball and Vintage Fashion Show & Tea on Saturday April 21 and Sunday April 22, 2007 in Lackawanna County Pennsylvania.

The Weekend Schedule will include a Memorial Service with The Carbondale Ministerium at St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. Immediately following the memorial service, the Delaney Delacy Guard, Sons of Veterans Reserve, and the Carbondale Historical Society will conduct a flag pole dedication ceremony at Saint Rose Cemetery, South Main Street, Carbondale.

Also at 1 p.m. on April 21st, a Vintage Dance Workshop will be held at the Century Club, 612 Jefferson Avenue in Scranton to prepare for the Grand Ball with dance lessons from vintage dance instructor, Martha Griffin. It's fun and easy - no prior experience necessary! Cost: $10 per person or $15 per couple. (pay at the door).

The Grand Civil War Ball will be held at the Century Club at 8 p.m. on April 21st. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to travel back to the mid-19th century and dance the night away as your ancestors did during the Civil War era. Live music will be provided by premier vintage dance band, Spare Parts and period dress and dress blues are greatly admired but not required. This event was sold out the last two years, so advance registration is highly recommended! New this year, is the addition of the Vantage Fashion Show and Tea on Sunday, April 22nd from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Electric City Trolley Museum. Enjoy an elegant tea luncheon, listen to live music by Spare Parts, and learn about the fashions of the 19th and early 20th centuries! Cost is $25 per person and advance registration is required for Fashion Show and Tea, no tickets sold at the door.
