Scranton, PA - The Junior League of Scranton (JLS) is pleased to announce the 8th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza celebration for area children and their families. The event will take place on Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Scranton High School, Providence Road, Scranton, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Admission is $3.00/child and parents and children under one are free.
The Eggstravaganza, a fun-filled day of activities, helps to kick-off the Easter/Spring season for area children and their families. The highlight of this year’s event will be the newly hatched, baby chicks’ display. Children can watch as these newborn chicks hop around and play. The event will also feature the PAAS & CakeMate craft corner where children can color eggs, decorate homemade cookies and create their own take-home craft. The children can also walk through the indoor flower patch and hunt for colored eggs and candy. Special guests, the Grump, and everyone’s favorite fun-maker, Buttons the Clown, will be on-hand to entertain the children. Dance Craze DJ, Jack Martin, will be spinning the tunes to keep the children dancing as they shake off the winter blues and welcome the arrival of spring. Children can jump on over to the game area where they can take a turn in the bouncy castle or play a few games and win some prizes. In addition to all this, there will be face-painting, story-telling and a puppet show. And, of course, the Easter Bunny will be hopping by to pose for pictures. DIGIKIDS will be on-hand offering child identification services. There will also be a nominally priced food stand offering hot dogs, pizza, snacks and refreshments. A special thank-you to Gertrude Hawk Chocolates, Ingargiola Wealth Mangement, G.C. Fire Protection, RONCO, CakeMate and PAAS, our “Bunny Benefactors”, whose sponsorship helped make this event possible.
Proceeds from this event help to benefit programs for women and children in the area. Some of these programs include: Kids in the Kitchen, a program which helps parents and children make healthy and informed nutritional decisions; the CMC Pediatric Play program, a three-year commitment, which involves redecorating the children's play area, children's hospital rooms and provide activities for children staying at the hospital; Cinderella’s Closet, which provides new and gently-used prom attire for $10 and under; and the Party Pantry, established at the Women's Resource Safe House, which provides resources and gifts for children's birthday's and holidays.
