Merli-Sarnoski Park was dedicated in 1978 and named after Lackawanna County
Congressional Medal of Honor recipients Gino Merli and Joseph Sarnoski. This park is eight
hundred and forty (840) acres of untouched natural beauty.
Located just off Route 106 in Fell Township ( 1.5 miles east of Route 247), the park is open year 'round
and offers some of the most picturesque, untouched land in the area.
Merli-Sarnoski, The Outdoorsman's Park, features:
- 840 acres of preserved woodlands
- 35 acre lake for fishing, heavily stocked with trout by the PA Fishing
Commision
- Beautiful sandy beach area with a bath house.
- Swimming, overseen by certified lifeguards, from the third week in June thru Labor Day.
- Ice-fishing
- Boat launch area (electric motors only).
- Miles of hiking and nature trails for the outdoor enthusiasts.
- Picnic areas, complete with tables and charcoal grilles, throughout the park.
- Playground area with basketball courts, for the athletic minded.
- Open fields for general activities.
- Overnight camping for non-profit organizations (with permission from the parks Director).
Recent additions are:
- Large handicapped fishing pier.
- Eight (8) mile cross country mountain bike trail.
- Pavilion area at the beach.
- Regulation soccer field.
Merli-Sarnoski Park is open from 8:00 A.M. till 8:00 P.M. everyday from the first day of trout season in April through October; and from 8:00 A.M. till 4:00 P.M. the rest of the year.
During the winter months the park is subject to closing on county holidays
The park is closed on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
