The Lackawanna County Commissioners Corey D. O’Brien, Jim Wansacz and Patrick M. O’Malley will celebrate the landmark Americans With Disabilities Act legislation with a ceremony at McDade Park, Scranton, on Friday, July 26, from 10 AM – 11 AM in Pavilion #1 near the Boundless Playground.
Several area agencies that care for individuals with physical, intellectual or other disabilities have been invited to attend. Some of the organizations include: The County’s Area Agency on Aging, Lackawanna Branch Pennsylvania Association For The Blind, United Cerebral Palsy of NEPA, Deutsch Institute, The ARC of NEPA, Keystone Community Resources, Goodwill Industries of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Scranton School For Deaf & Hard of Hearing Children, Allied Services and the County’s Department of Human Services.
Keith Williams of the Northeast Pennsylvania Center For Independent Living is working with members of the Commissioners staff to assemble the program.
The event will include a proclamation from the Commissioners along with general remarks.
Various photos of the County’s Boundless Playgrounds and other area facilities that are safe and accessible will be on display. A variety of other information will be available.
