Commonwealth Honors Veterans With New License Plate

Pennsylvania residents now have an opportunity to recognize and support the State’s veterans who have done so much to safeguard our freedom and defend our nation in times of war.

A brand new blue, white and yellow license plate, featuring a bald eagle with an American flag backdrop and the phrase “Honoring Our Veterans” centered along the bottom, has been designed and is available for purchase.

The cost of the plate is $35. It is available for purchase by all Pennsylvania residents, especially immediate family members and friends of veterans. A portion of the proceeds from the plate, $15, goes to The Veterans Trust Fund.

The fund is used to support Pennsylvania veterans and their families. It is also utilized for grants to the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation and other non profit veterans service organizations.

The law, passed last year to create the new plate, also enables Pennsylvania residents to donate $3 to the Veterans Trust Fund when applying for or renewing their driver’s license, identification cards or vehicle registration.

To apply for a veterans plate, go to Penn DOT’s website, www.dmv.state.pa.us, and complete Form MV-914, which is the “Application For Honoring Our Veterans Special Fund Registration Plate.
