Officials from Lackawanna County display placards outlining both the use of a child safety car seat and how to adjust a bike helmet for the proper fit. Statistics show that riding in the back in a car seat reduces the risk of death by 30 percent. Bicycle helmets can reduce the risk of severe brain injuries by 88 percent. For further information or demonstrations of child safety procedures, contact the seat belt safety office at 570-347-2358.
