The Marriage License Bureau is a division of the Clerk of Orphans’ Court, an elected office held by Linda Munley. She has been serving the public in this capacity since 1990.
The primary function of the Marriage License Bureau is taking application for and issuing marriage licenses to couples who plan to be married in the state of Pennsylvania. The Marriage License Bureau archives all marriage licenses issued in Lackawanna County from 1885 – present, as well as, birth and death records preceding 1906; making the office an excellent resource for genealogical research.
