The Marriage License Bureau is a division of the Clerk of Orphans’ Court, an elected office held by Frances Roland Kovaleski. She has been serving the public in the capacity of Deputy since 1995 and was elected Register and Clerk in November, 2013.
The primary function of the Marriage License Bureau is taking application for and issuing marriage license to couples who plan to be married in the State of Pennsylvania.
The Marriage License Bureau archives all marriage licenses, issued in Lackawanna County from 1885 – to present day. All births and death records that have been recorded before 1906 are available on-line under the caption of “Genealogy research” and an excellent resource for tracing your family tree.
