The Marriage License Bureau is a division of the Clerk of Orphans’ Court, an elected office held by Linda Munley. She has been serving the public in this capacity since 1990. The primary function on the Marriage License Bureau is taking application for and issuing marriage licenses to couples who plan to be married in the state of Pennsylvania. The Marriage License Bureau archives all marriage licenses issued in Lackawanna County from 1885 – present, as well as, birth and death records preceding 1906; making the office an excellent resource for genealogical research. |

The Marriage License Bureau is located on the 4th floor of the Scranton Electric Building, 507 Linden Street, Scranton, PA. 18503. Offices hours are 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Hours for marriage license application are 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Except Holidays and Saturdays). THE CLERK OF ORPHANS’ COURT HAS
SCHEDULED SATURDAY HOURS FOR 2010
As a courtesy to working couples, The Orphans’ Court Clerk is open one Saturday per month. Marriage License dates for Saturdays in 2010 are as follows: March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18 and October 16. The office is open 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
