Sheriff John Szymanski Honored By Lackawanna County Commissioners

The Lackawanna County Commissioners presented a proclamation to Sheriff John Szymanski for 32 years of outstanding service. The Sheriff, who will be retiring at the end of the year, revolutionized his office in several areas. He computerized records, established a Fines and Costs Warrant Unit to track and apprehend people who do not pay court fees, installed a state-of-the-art electronic security system for the Courthouse, and made available search and rescue mounted detail and bomb and drug sniffing canines to help in law enforcement activities.
