Lackawanna County 4-H’ers Place At Regional Fashion Revue

Ten Lackawanna County 4-H textile science members from the Glenburn Sewing Club competed in the regional 4-H fashion revue in Mehoopany. Those members were: Jordan Columbo, Kate Lloyd, Emily McCabe, Ava Ramsey and Kaelee Whipple, South Abington Township; and Hannah Conahan, Kathleen McMahon, Alanna Mecca, Marikay VanFleet, and Lily Whetsell, Clarks Summit.

Nearly fifty members from Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Bradford, Sullivan, Tioga and Wyoming Counties had their garments judged for appearance, fit, design, and fashion and construction techniques. In addition, participants attended workshops on modeling, creating a wool craft, and making a paracord bracelet.

The day concluded with a fashion show and awards presentation. To Lackawanna County members received recognition for their outstanding work. Kaelee Whipple was the winner in the junior wearable year 3 division. In addition, Hannah Conahan was the winner in the senior wearable division.

By placing in the senior division, Ms. Conahan will represent the region at the State fashion revue at the Penn State University main campus on July 29. She will compete against 4-H’ers from across the state for the top 12 places.

The 4-H textile science program, sponsored by the Penn State Extension, teaches youth, ages eight to 18, clothing construction skills and increases their self-esteem, poise and confidence.
