Downtown Scranton Planter Project

What’s in a number?

The Penn State Master Gardeners in Lackawanna County certainly know.

The Master Gardeners began a partnership with Scranton Tomorrow in 2012 to improve the downtown’s appearance by planting beautiful flowers in the sidewalk planters.  Since then, the following have been planted:

  • 25,000 annuals
  • 1,000 mums

Over 650 people volunteered over 2,100 hours of their time to achieve this.

More help is needed to add to the numbers.  The group will be planting Fall mums on Sunday, September 13, at noon.  They will meet at the Entrepreneurial Launch Pad, Scranton Electric Building, First Floor, 507 Linden Street, Scranton.
