Northeast Greenhouse Seminar Planned for November 10

The Northeast Greenhouse Growers Seminar will be held Tuesday, November 10, at the Luzerne County Community College Conference Center in Nanticoke. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the program runs from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

The seminar is designed to keep greenhouse growers competitive in an increasingly challenging environment. Presentations will cover Finding, Training, & Keeping Good Employees; Basic Plant Nutrition and pH; Gaining the Upper Hand on Thrips; Outstanding Cultivars at the Penn State Trial Gardens; Growing Hydroponic Lettuce; Top Tips for Pesticide Applicators; and an Update from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Two core and two category pesticide applicator re-certification credits will be available.

Speakers include representatives from Penn State Extension, Cornell University, local growers, and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Participants will also be able to visit several commercial exhibitors who will display their company’s latest products and services at the program.

The deadline for pre-registration is Tuesday, November 3. The cost of the program is $30 if pre-registered by November 2 and includes morning refreshments and a hot buffet lunch. The fee after November 2 is $40.
