Webinar Series For Beginning Tree Fruit Growers Tree Fruit 101 – An Introduction To Growing Tree Fruit Commercially

Penn State Extension is offering three Saturday morning webinar trainings that are all two hours long. The three sessions are designed for the beginning tree fruit grower who plans to grow tree fruit for sale.

Commercial growers, with limited experience, would find these trainings helpful. Attendees will learn how to consistently grow quality fruit and avoid many of the problems that discourage new tree fruit growers.

March 5, 2016 – Cultivars, Rootstocks, Training and Support Systems: Our first speaker is Dr. Rob Crassweller, who is an Extension Tree Fruit Specialist in the area of Horticulture. Rob also teaches a three-credit tree fruit production course at Penn State’s main campus.

March 12, 2016 – Insect Pest Management: The program will be presented by Dr. Greg Krawczyk, an Extension Entomologist specializing in tree fruit pests. Greg conducts research at the Fruit Research and Extension Center in Biglerville, PA.

March 19, 2016 – Disease Prevention and Management: Dr. Kari Peter is a Plant Pathology Specialist who works with tree fruit. Dr. Peter is also affiliated with the Fruit Research and Extension Center in Biglerville, PA.
