West Scranton Intermediate Students Honored For C-SPAN Award

Abbie O’Brien and Fione Evans, center, eighth grade students at West Scranton Intermediate School, were honored by the Lackawanna County Commissioners with a Certificate of Recognition for their second place award in the 2016 C-SPAN StudentCAM Video Contest. The young ladies developed a presentation entitled “National Immigration Issues.” The documentary involved an interview with Congressman Matt Cartwright and a trip to Times Square and Ellis Island. This was a part of the “Road to the White House” contest theme that focused on issues for the Presidential candidates. The girls donated a portion of their prize money to an organization that assists immigrants and refugees.
