Master Watershed Stewards At Master Gardeners September 10 Event

Master Watershed Stewards will be joining the Master Gardeners of Lackawanna County for a Meet and Greet event at Plow & Hearth located at the Shoppes at Montage on Saturday, September 10, from Noon -3 pm.

The Penn State Extension Luzerne, Wyoming, & Lackawanna offices have recently kicked off the Master Watershed Steward program for the Northeastern Pennsylvania region. The initiative is designed like the Master Gardener program, where individuals go through extensive training and then give back some time for volunteering on various community-based educational projects throughout the watershed.

The 2016 Master Watershed Steward Program is a collaborative effort of Penn State Extension, Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming Conservation Districts, Lackawanna River Conservation Association, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Pennsylvania American Water Company, and Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority.

The Master Watershed Stewards will be available at the event to educate the public on best management practices in water resources and environmental stewardship and to spread the word about this new and exciting program in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
