Old Forge Backpack Program Lauded

Hunger is a major issue in our community, impacting families and children. To address this problem, Old Forge third grade teacher Adrianne DelSordo, fourth from right, initiated a Backpack Program filled with food and school supplies. Ms. DelSordo is assisted in the venture by six seniors, who along with volunteers, fill the sacks and distribute them every Friday to students in kindergarten through the 12th grade.

Providing a Lackawanna County “Good Works” certificate to the group are, l-r, Commissioner Jerry Notarianni, Commissioner Laureen A. Cummings, Sean Ohler, Isabella Andrukitis and Tyler Termini, Old Forge students; Ms. DelSordo; Abrianna Killino and Lauren Moritz, Old Forge students; and Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley.
