Commissioners Designate September As Global Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month

Annually in September, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation initiates a worldwide campaign to create an awareness of this progressive disease, which causes scarring in a person’s lungs. Pulmonary Fibrosis effects over 5 million people worldwide, with over 500,000 cases in the United States. There is no FDA cure or prevention therapy available at the present time. To aid in spreading the Foundation’s message about the disease, the Commissioners proclaimed September “Global Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month” in Lackawanna County.
