Coal Miners “Good Works” Recognized

Silvia Passeri of Blakely, right, realized her dream with the dedication of the “Coal Miners Remembered” monument on October 7. The structure recalls the bravery and contributions coal miners made to our region. Located in the Blakely Borough Recreational Complex, the edifice contains over 600 names of those who toiled underground. The monument was financed by State grants and fund raising events.

Standing with a poster depicting the monument are, l-r, Commissioner Laureen A. Cummings, Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley, Commissioner Jerry Notarianni, and Ms. Passeri.
