Taney’s Costume Shop Recognized

The Lackawanna County Commissioners presented Jim O’Hora, center, owner of Taney’s Costume Shop, with a proclamation marking the “end of an era” for the business as it winds down operations. Founded in 1926 by Pierce L. Taney, the firm is Northeastern Pennsylvania’s largest full-service theatrical store. Mr. O’Hora took over in 1974 when Mr. Taney became ill and expanded it in 1979 and 1980, doubling the size of the shop with over 10,000 costumes in stock. Taney’s has a storied history for serving many big-name stars.

L-r, Commissioner Laureen A. Cummings, Mr. O’Hora and Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley.
