Heat Relief For Area Senior Citizens

The Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, in partnership with the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties, Lackawanna County, The Moses Taylor Foundation, and the Marketplace at Steamtown, is providing a cooling station at the Marketplace’s second floor Community Room for area residents over the age of 65. The station will be open from 11 AM to 4 PM both Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21.

Additionally, older adults can find similar relief at the Carbondale YMCA this weekend and at the Jewish Community Center in Scranton on Sunday.

All residents are urged to contact the Area Agency on Aging at (570) 963-6740 with any questions or for assistance.

The Lackawanna County Commissioners, Human Services Department, and Area Agency on Aging wish to acknowledge and thank the community partners who graciously helped to provide relief to the residents of Lackawanna County in an attempt to “beat the heat” and stay cool.
