Marion Munley Named Distinguished Citizen

Former State Representative Marion L. Munley is the next Distinguished Citizen to be featured on the Spruce Street Lackawanna County Courthouse Square monument. Ms. Munley was the first woman elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, serving from 1947-1964. Her son, Senior U.S. District Judge James Munley, inside right, holds up a placard of his late mother announcing the selection.

At the October 16 ceremony were, from left, Commissioner Laureen A. Cummings, Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley, Judge Munley, and Commissioner Jerry Notarianni.
