Lackawanna County Commissioners Announce Funding For Twenty-five Community Re-Invest Projects

Twenty-five projects, focusing on social service, youth, public safety, veterans, and outdoor improvements to mention a cross section, were approved for funding by the Lackawanna County Commissioners through their Community Re-Invest Program totaling $172,755.  The public-private partnership investment for 2019 is $2,475,789.

The Community Re-Invest Program was established in July of 2013.  It represents the “last mile” funding to help bring the initiatives to fruition.  The overall public-private investment since its inception is $8,169,139.

The projects that were approved during this round of funding include:

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

       Project Description: Purchase and demolition of two blighted properties for future expansion.

       Total Project Cost: $230,000                   

       Amount from CRP Program: $10,000

 

BHUTANESE CULTURAL FOUNDATION

       Project Description: Upgrades to community hall, which will include new flooring, drywall, ceiling tiles, and three new doors.

       Total Project Cost: $13,000                     

       Amount from CRP Program: $7,000

  1. B. JERMYN LODGE #2 (Scranton)

       Project Description: Replacement of roof heating and air-conditioning units.

       Total Project Cost: $22,500

TRIPP PARK MISS-E LEAGUE

       Project Description: Renovation of kitchen in concession stand.

       Total Project Cost: $24,500

WESTON PARK TEENER LEAGUE

       Project Description: Professional restoration of the playing field (grass installation).

       Total Project Cost: $7,198

MAYFIELD BOROUGH

       Project Description: Municipal building renovations, including purchase and installation of commercial-grade railing for the back porch and stairs.

       Total Project Cost: $9,000

       Project Description: Exterior and interior renovations, including wall and ceiling repairs and a bilco basement door installation.

VETERANS HOME ASSOCIATION (Jefferson Township)

       Project Description: Drill a new well and purchase a backup generator.

       Total Project Cost: $60,000

       Project Description: Purchase a pickup truck for maintenance.

       Total Project Cost: $15,000

WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER

       Project Description: Ramp, walkway and step replacements around The Carriage House.

       Total Project Cost: $25,000

       Project Description: Replace play structure at Betty Street playground in Eynon.

       Total Project Cost: $14,465

SCOTT BASEBALL ASSOCIATION

       Project Description: Construction of an indoor recreation facility for use in inclement weather.

       Total Project Cost: $75,000

       Project Description: Purchase radio equipment for the police department.

       Total Project Cost: $5,755

       Project Description: Bathroom renovations for ADA compliance for the nonprofit agency that utilizes St. Stanislaus Church facilities to provide meals to those in need.

       Project Description: Erection of a Coach Jack Henzes tribute statue at Dunmore High School.

       Project Description: Prime and re-paint the ladder room and new addition.

       Project Description: Construction of a pavilion at Sweeney’s Beach, a river access and educational site.
