Two Scams Directed At Our Older Adults

Opportunists and thrill-seekers are at it again.

So, Lackawanna County older adults, beware.

Scams pertaining to two very important subjects – vaccine shots and stimulus checks – are running rampant.  Seniors and their families need to be aware of this and the ramifications.

Here are the facts as provided by the County’s Area Agency on Aging:

  • Vaccine Scam – Any calls stating that if you pay, provide credit card information, or personal information, you can get a vaccine shot is false.  All vaccines are free; covered by insurance.

  • Stimulus Scam – Any calls stating that if you pay, provide credit card information, or personal information, you will get additional stimulus payments.  This is certainly untrue.
