More West Nile Virus Detected In the County

The presence of West Nile virus has been detected once again with six new mosquito samples collected.  Positive samples were located at: the intersection of Marion Street and Powell Avenue in Clarks Summit; Spring Street in Moosic; the Powder Mill Lane trailhead in Jermyn; the South Laurel Street trailhead in Archbald; Sibley Avenue in Old Forge; and McDade Park.

No human cases have been reported in Lackawanna County at this time.

Officials from Lackawanna County and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection are responding to the situation.  Residents in these areas are advised to take precaution when outdoors and to eliminate standing water on their property.
