The Lackawanna County Government Center and the Lackawanna County Courthouse Will Be Allowing all Nonessential Employees to Leave Today (December 16) at 2 PM due to the Impending Snow Storm, and They Can Finish-up the Day at Home Remotely

 

The Lackawanna County Government Center and the Lackawanna County Courthouse will be allowing all nonessential employees to leave today (December 16) at 2 PM due to the impending snow storm, and they can finish-up the day at home remotely.

 

All nonessential County and Court employees are to work remotely on Thursday.

 

Essential employees from the following departments are to report to work as scheduled for either their regular shifts or special schedule/starting times due to the storm:  Prison, House Arrest, 911, Information Technology, Sheriff’s Department, Roads & Bridges, Parks & Recreation, and Maintenance.

 

All elected officials have been encouraged to follow this guidance, but they may direct their staff in accordance with their statutory 1620 Rights.

Lackawanna County Commissioners Announce Funding For Twenty-one Community Re-Invest Projects

Twenty-one projects, focusing on recreation, public safety, veterans posts, COVID-19 testing and facility upgrades, fire rescue education and general construction and upkeep, were approved for funding by the Lackawanna County Commissioners through their Community Re-Invest Program totaling $104,186. The public-private partnership investment for 2020 is $443,611.

The Community Re-Invest Program was established in July of 2013. It represents the “last mile” funding to help bring the initiatives to fruition. The overall public-private investment since its inception is $8,635,538.

Joint Lackawanna County and Wright Center Blood Drive Kickoff

Blood Drive Kickoff

Lackawanna County Commissioner Chris Chermak and Dr. Erin McFadden of The Wright Center kicked off the joint County and Wright Center blood drive on June 12.

The next event is slated for July 31 from Noon – 5 PM at the center.

Commissioner Domenick Cosponsors Blood Drive To Alleviate Shortage

April 17, 2020 – For Immediate Release

Lackawanna County Commissioner Debi Domenick, right, cosponsored a blood drive with the American Red Cross on April 16 at the Peckville Assembly of God, Blakely, in response to the dire shortage caused by the pandemic. Forty-one pints were collected, which will save up to 123 lives. Another drive is slated for May at a date and location to be announced shortly.
