Santa Visit and Homes for Heroes

Lackawanna County Commissioners Jim Wansacz and Patrick O’Malley attended the Key Presentation Ceremony for SSG Earl Granville in Scott Township on Saturday.    Homes for Our Troops teamed up the Lackawanna Home Builders Association and the Build Brigade, made up of  local volunteers,  for construction of the project.


Good Works Done By Marley’s Mission

April Loposky, founder and program director of Marley’s Mission, accepts “Good Works” certificate from the Lackawanna County Commissioners for her efforts to help youngsters who have been abused. The organization enables children to overcome the aftermath of abuse through equine therapy. Marley’s Mission recently purchased farm land in Newton Township to set-up its operation.

Avanti Cigar Reaches The Century Mark

Officials from Avanti Cigar gather with the Lackawanna County Commissioners for a proclamation that recognized the firm’s 100 th anniversary. The family-owned business built its path for growth over the years by purchasing several Italian cigar firms and building a reputation for an outstanding product. The company reorganized in 1982 and changed its name to Avanti Cigar Company.
