The Lackawanna-Luzerne Transportation Study Metropolitan Planning Organization

has prepared the 2021-2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for public comment. The TIP and supporting documentation are available for review on-line at: http://www.lltsmpo.com. The comment period begins on June 4th and closes on July 8, 2020 and direction for providing comment is available on the website.

 


Regional Planning Commission Virtual Meeting Information

 

Notice is hereby given that the Lackawanna County Regional Planning Commission will hold their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 10:30 am.

In order to comply with the Board of Commissioners Declaration of Disaster Emergency dated March 16, 2020, and Governor Wolf’s Shelter in Place Order dated March 27, 2020, the meeting will be live streamed on YouTube.

The public is invited to view this live streamed meeting. County residents may send their comments/questions in writing with their name and address, to be answered and included in the minutes by emailing our office no later than 9:00 am on the day of the meeting.

Process for Submission of Subdivision and Land Development Plans for Review or Signature During the State of Emergency

Due to the COVID-19 state of emergency, the Lackawanna County Government Center, including the Department of Planning and Economic Development, is CLOSED to the public.

REVIEW OF SUBDIVISION / LAND DEVELOPMENT PLANS: During the state of emergency, the planning department will accept these plans for review by U.S. Mail or courier service (UPS, FedEx, etc.) and through a drop-box at the front entrance of the government center. Please notify the department via email at the addresses below that such plans have been dropped off in order to avoid a delay in response time. Upon receipt, the department has 30 days to issue an evaluation report to the local municipality prior to final approval by the municipality. Plans within the following municipalities must be submitted through a municipal official and cannot be accepted by the county by any means from the owner/developer or plan preparer: Benton Twp, Greenfield Twp, Madison Twp, Mayfield Borough, Ransom Twp, and Roaring Brook Twp. All plans submitted must be accompanied by contact information (email and phone) and a review fee. The schedule for review fees can be found on the county website.



 


Regional Planning Commission

The Board of County Commissioners created the Lackawanna County Regional Planning Commission on June 16, 1959.  The Commission is responsible for policy decisions concerning the planning program and recommendations on subdivision and land development proposals and local land-use regulations. The Commission has nine board members appointed to four-year terms by the County Commissioners. The Planning Commission is headed by the Director of the Department of Planning & Economic Development and currently has four full-time staff members to carry out the various state-mandated planning activities and numerous additional activities for the county.
