Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
The Lackawanna County Commissioners proclaimed September as Suicide Prevention Month to bring to light important facts about the leading cause of death in the United States. Approximately five million people in our country have been affected by suicide, and it ranks as the second leading cause of death in Pennsylvania. The County’s Lackawanna-Susquehanna Behavioral Health/Intellectual Disability/Early Intervention Program works with several community agencies to organize educational programs and special events to alert individuals and families of the resources that are available.
