Commissioners Recognize Newton Twp. Agricultural Advocate

Lackawanna County Commissioners Chris Chermak, left, and Matt McGloin, right, present a proclamation Thursday to farmer, businessman and agriculture advocate Keith Eckel of Newton Twp., who has been named Distinguished Citizen of the Commonwealth by the Pennsylvania Society. The commissioners’ proclamation cites Eckel’s philanthropy, especially in providing land for Marley’s Mission to help children and veterans through equine therapy, along with his agricultural advocacy, farmland preservation work and civic activism.
