The Park now features a state-of-the-art amenity for local families and visitors to enjoy during the Summer for many years to come in a very safe environment. This will complement the park’s playground, trails, and sports areas.
The pad is state-of-the-art, featuring safe, child-friendly aquatic elements. The utility, activators and water systems are brand new. It will be open daily (seven days a week) from 11 AM to 7 PM.
Costs are being covered by a grants obtained: approximately $70,000 in LSA Monroe County Grants; $95,245 from a DCED GTRP-Greenways/Trails/Recreation Grant; and $500,000 from a LSA Statewide Grant. The $64,000 remaining is American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
The splash pad will be installed in concert with the pool renovation project. Vortex, a Co-Stars vendor, will oversee the work.
The work involves:
- Excavation and site preparation to prepare ground for concrete base and underground water lines to supply Splash elements.
- Installation of underground recirculation and chemical system to treat Splash Park water.
- Installation, in concrete base, of all water embeds that provide water to all Splash Park amenities.
- Installation of all above ground Splash Park elements and activator.
- Direct tie-in to water and electric utilities from the new bath house to unify all utilities systems.
