2023 Senior Health Fair  

                Fall is in the air, and it is now time to get vaccinated to combat the flu, COVID-19 and other viruses floating around the atmosphere.      

                The Lackawanna County Commissioners are once again making it easy for area residents to do so.  The County’s Community Outreach,  Communications Departments and its Area Agency on Aging are conducting a Senior Health Fair and providing flu shots, COVID-19 boosters, and other vaccine shots in collaboration with DePietro’s Pharmacy and Hometown Health. The Wright Center will have its Mobile Unit in the parking lot providing COVID testing and vaccines also.       

                This free event is scheduled for Friday, September 22, from 10 am – 1 pm in The Geisinger Champions Club at PNC Field, 235 Montage Mountain Road, Moosic.        

                The fair, which is being sponsored by Geisinger Health Plan, Traditional Home Health, C*Screen, Interim Health Care of NEPA, Highmark Blue Cross, NeighborWorks, Hometown Health, GHC Home Care, United Way of Lackawanna, Wayne and Pike Counties, Commonwealth Health, In Home Personal Care Services, Inc., Lehigh Valley Hospital – Dickson City, Meals on Wheels of NEPA, Metz Culinary, NEPA Medicare, Pennsylvania Lottery, People’s Security Bank, and Shantiniketan Adult Day Care, will feature a total of 49 exhibitors, offering information on a variety of programs, services, living arrangements, legal information, sight and hearing data, transportation, and financial advice.      

Flu, COVID boosters, and other vaccine shots will be given continuously throughout the day by staff from DiPietro’s and Hometown Health.  Attendees will need to provide their insurance and/or Medicare cards and name as a means of matching them to the serum batch that they receive. 

The guests will be able to visit all of the vendor displays, take part in the various medical screenings and other services being provided. 

Bagged lunch tickets will be given out to the first 300 people.  There will also be various giveaways at the booths and prize drawings.   

The Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office will be conducting an anonymous prescription and non-prescription drug take back at the Senior Health Fair.  No injectable units or devices can be accepted.

Proceeds from the event will benefit older adults of Lackawanna County.
